Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were notified by a resident who found a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then located many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
